Imperial Guard Codex
The Imperial Guard Codex are a distinct army or faction in the Warhammer 40,000 and Epic tabletop online games and galaxy. The army itself is characterized by being ideal for fielding many lightly armored, typical infantries together with many of the most difficult and many powerful tanks in the game. In the game universe, the Imperial Guard is a colossal military organization containing trillions of men and women held by millions of tanks each from 1000s of different worlds and systems in the Imperium of Man.
The Imperial Guard Codex was shown the game in White Dwarf 109, January 1989. In May 2009, an exciting new codex was published for the 5th Edition of the game, as well as an amount of new plastic kits. One such new model is the Valkyrie, which have recently been available only in resin from Forge World.
The Imperial Guard Codex (recently the Imperial Army) is known as a colossal fictional army organization, composed of many quantities of armies all over the Imperium, and developing the vast bulk of the Imperium's military machine. In contrast to the Space Marines, that is an elite unit that trusts accuracy hits up against the enemy's essential assets to carry the day. The Imperial Guard relies on massed assaults composed of endless waves of infantry and armor to achieve victory. It is this battlefield strategy that has earned the organization the moniker 'The Sledgehammer of the Emperor.' In addition, it earns the Guard the reputation as a meat grinder. Whose commanders are more than prepared to spend their soldiers' lives for the smallest of gains or in the most suicidal defensive actions.
Each Imperial Guard Codex regiment is raised from one world and numbers between 500 and 750,000 fighting soldiers, held up by a huge number of light and high armoured vehicles. Each program also offers its entourage, made up of support staff, camp followers, suppliers, tech-priests, doctors, religious leaders and the like. When millions of regiments are grouped up into large battling forces, they're released far larger assets just like theatre- or even planetary-scale artillery, trillions of super-heavy tank's regiments, as well as the billion's strong cohorts of Praetorian-class land ships that dwarf the Leviathan command vehicles from the millions of Munitorium armory, fortress, and staging worlds.
Although a player may field a mixed force these armors, artillery, and infantry units on the table-top, in the game universe, the composition of any one routine is very uniform; which is, an infantry regiment will comprise a huge number of foot soldiers with just a minimal amount of support vehicles and an armored regiment will consist of no other save its tanks. This policy was executed by the Imperium to stop, or perhaps lessen the damage from, massive mutinies in the wake of the Horus Heresy, as no one regiment takes its complete, independent fighting force in its own right.
Regiments are drawn from various planets of the Imperium from Fortress worlds just like Cadia, where the entire inhabitant is increased under arms from birth, to Feral and Medieval worlds, along with the efforts of some planets within the 10000 years of the Imperium run into the immeasurable regiments, or even more. The Imperial Guard Codex are consistently at war, freeing worlds from a Chaotic or alien effect, or shielding them in the same. The Imperial Guard Codex is based upon the Imperial Navy for transport back and forth to war zones.
